FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHY DO I HAVE TO CHANGE MY DENTURES?

The bone and gums react to the constant pressure exerted by the prosthesis and decrease in height over time. Concretely, stability and retention of the denture decrease with age, not to mention tooth wear.

  • WHAT IS THE LIFE SPAN OF A DENTURE?

On average, a dental prosthesis average life of 4 to 5 years . After 3 years, a remolding of the prosthesis (relining) is advisable to fit the reversal of soft tissue. Rebasing allows a renewed comfort and a better life of the prosthesis. After 5 years, making a new prosthesis is justified by normal wear of the teeth and resorption of the supporting tissues .

  • IF I DON’T CHANGE MY DENTURE, WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES?

With the natural resorption, a space is created between the prosthesis and the supporting bone. The prosthesis , less appropriate, move more during chewing , putting increased pressure (leverage) and unbalanced on the bone. Therefore, a ACCELERATION bone RESORPTION and an INCREASE of the instability of the prosthesis is observed. The discomfort , lack of retention and pain are avoided, not to mention irreversible bone loss.

  • ARE THERE ANY ALTERNATIVES TO NEW DENTURES?

Without the replacement of the prosthesis, the relining allows to fill the space left by the bone resorption and to stabilize the short-term prosthesis. Relining can be a solution for 1 or 2 years.

  • WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A COMBINING SEMI-PRECIOUS METALS AND ACRYLIC?

The advantage of the alloy prosthetics and acrylic is SLIMMING the room while allowing a better molding of soft tissue. More COMFORTABLE and especially more retentive , prostheses are more RESISTANT wear. Another advantage is precision prostheses being stronger, the palace can be covered in whole or in part to leave a FEELING BETTER in taste (unlike acrylic dentures) .

  • SO THEN, WHY 100% ACRYLIC DENTURES?

In the case of fillings, they must be replaced after the teeth whitening treatment. For bridges and crowns, it is possible to change them or enhance them with veneers like LUMINEERS to harmonized with the new color. This last option reduces the extent of restoration works.

  • WHY DO I HAVE TO REMOVE MY DENTURES AT NIGHT?

The bone and gums react to the constant pressure exerted by the prosthesis and decrease in height over time. Concretely, stability and retention of the denture decrease with age, not to mention tooth wear.

  • HOW DO I CLEAN MY DENTURES?

After each meal, brush the denture with a gel, a no-abrasive paste, or just a mild soap. Please note, a stiff brush or abrasive pastes can cause loss of luster artificial teeth and premature wear of the acrylic. Rinse the prosthesis before handing in the mouth to remove any residue from cleaning products.

  • HOW CAN I MAINTAIN AND EXTEND LIFE SPAN OF MY DENTURES?

The bone and gums react to the constant pressure exerted by the prosthesis and decrease in height over time. Concretely, stability and retention of the denture decrease with age, not to mention tooth wear.

  • WHY ANNUAL VISITS?

In addition to polishing, denturist checks for wear and fit of the prosthesis in the mouth. The prosthesis wears, but the gums and bones are also changing . Having a well-suited prosthesis ensures comfort and health. If necessary, a reline procedure is possible to readjust the prosthesis.

  • WHY TO DENTURE OVER IMPLANTS?

In advanced cases of bone resorption, prosthetic implants are the best and sometimes the only viable alternatives to restore chewing and comfort. The palace is left entirely free. Mastication, phonation , confidence and comfort are undeniable advantages of dentures on implants. It is the ideal solution to go back in time. Rediscover the pleasure of eating , it’s rejuvenating!

  • DO MY INSURANCES COVER FOR THE DENTURES?

In general, the insurance pay out a percentage of the cost of dentures ( 50% to 90%) once in 5 years. To avoid surprises, an assessment will be submitted to your insurance after the initial consultation, which will give you a written confirmation before the start of proceedings.

  • ARE THERE FOR PAYMENT PLAN AVAILABLE?
