Wisdom teeth (third molars) are artifacts of evolution. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors needed the third molar at 18-20 years old in order to survive. Nowadays, as we keep all our teeth healthy, the third molars often lack the needed place to erupt normally.

Wisdom teeth should be extracted due to:

-
Lack of space
-
Avoid potential infection: partially erupted allowing infiltration of bacteria
-
Negative pressure: poor alignment of wisdom teeth
-
Risk of cyst formation
-
GUM infection surrounding the wisdom teeth

The ideal time slot for the wisdom of surgery is between the age of 18 and 30 years. The recovery period is about 48 hours.
